I don't want to send him back to the shelter. The day we got him, he was scheduled to be put down. He's a dachsund mix. He's really calm. I have a baby who pulls on his ears and tail and he just sits there. E-mail me at jonesytvr@hotmail.com if interested. Thanks.

If you are unable to keep your dog, try to put a
"to give away" ad in your local paper. It is free where I live. Or call your vet and let them know that you need a good home for the dog. Print an information page with his photo and post it at the vet. They have to put down sick/old dogs every day. Some one may see your dog and be happy to give him a home for the rest of his life. There are ways to find the dog a good home without relying on shelters which are already too full.

It is well accepted fact that seniors need pets to liove longer and healthier. Many seniors can not afford an adoption fee from even the ASPCA.
Put an ad on bulletin boards of seniors' centres offering this small-size dog for FREE - you should get responses! You should also try telling all the area vets because often pets need to be put down and a vet is happy to offer a new pet for a grieving person, especially if the owner had two dogs and lost one. the other dog would need a companion.

Christmas would be a good time to find him a new home.
Run a ad in your paper-under dogs free to good home
Male, dachsund mixed. Very calm & loves children.
If your shots/worming are up to date, be sure to state that to.
Good luck.

a trusted friend. I also have an older dog, and I would only entrust it to a good friend whom you trust and you know will take good care of it.

Do you have any relatives that will take the dog. If he obeys and listens and is house trained, you should have no poblem getting him a home

sounds like a baby proofed dog to me, I'd keep it.
If you take this dog back to the shelter, 1. Don't ever show your face there again
2. Pray that your baby doesn't become inconvenient..they are harder to dump off.

why are you giving him up? it sounds like you're sad and you don't really want to do it. try to find somebody close to you that can take care of him. if not then tell me where you live.
