It is not up to you to explain things to your friend's child. That is up to her parents.

the best thing to do is read the Bible as a family and explain it to the children. make sure you are backing this up in a good church. I went to church before i was born, and 17 years later i am still going. my parents dont make me at all. I want to be there. I am now a jr. leader in the church and every wednesday I work with the sparks club (k-2and grade) they learn Bible verses, they hear Bible storys, and most of all they are learning about God. look into the AWANA program, i am not sure how old the child is, but awana starts them out at age 3, and takes them all the way through 12th grade. it is broken up into clubs, cubbies (3-4 year olds), sparks (k-2and grade), T&T (3rd-6th grade), JV (7th-8th grade), and V (9th-12th grade). if you want more info you can email me, i have been in the program since i was 3 so i can answer any questions about it.

Taking the child to church is a good idea but he/she might not understand what the priest/reverend/minister is saying. Most churches offer classes for small children such as Sunday school or Catechism. Some religions require children to take classes. I have also purchased a child's version of the Bible and would read it to them each night.

What does your friend believe? It's hard to teach a child about God, if you don't have any firm beliefs yourself. I would tell your friend to start looking into churches, and find one she feels comfortable with. Then she can start taking her child. A good place to start is the website, www.beliefnet.com. They have a little quiz you can take to see what church would be a good fit, based on your beliefs. They might also have some good information about talking to kids about God.

get a todler bible and read it to them. I just had this conversation with my son actually tonight he is four and he said to me how can GOD send jesus to earth when jesus is GOD and i told him the truth i told him about mary and how God put jesus in her tummy so he could become a boy like his little brother and when he got older he spread the word of GOD. He seemed to understand it after i told him that KIDS are smart if you are honest with them they will understand. Just talk to them without any distractions around and sit down and explain that God loves them very much and he protects them and that he is in heaven. Just tell them what you know. IF you do not know alot maybe then take them to a preacher that you can trust to them the truth about GOD. I also suggest gettin a todler Bible that tells them alot too. BUT just be honest with them and do read scriptures out of the bible and then explain the scriptures in your words to them. That is what i did i read john 316 the way it was written and he did not understand it so i explained it to him in my words. He then understood it.
GOOD LUCK

Any religion and God I believe is a great influence on children. Morals are one thing but with religion or belief in a higher power is wonderful. I think parents should at least educate their children on religions even if they do not believe in a particular one themselves. We should all provide our children with as many good influences as we can--we all know there are plenty bad influences but it's a good thing to reinforce good morals with good influences. That's a great thing for your friend.

You should tell them the truth, which is that there is nothing in the world that isn't without reason, and that god is a backwards absurdity. The worst abuse you can inflict upon children is to insist on the irrational. To do so is to turn your relationship and the very meaning of love into a dark secret forcing the child to shut off his mind and reason in order to fit in and to remain part of the family by keeping and pretending to believe your lies.
