Religion can be something, you can convert to be born in and adapt to, belong to and follow and worship.
Spirituality is something you have to feel, and use your senses it can be linked to your inner self and be connected to something great that is hard to express in words.
Religion and Spirituality go along side by side religion can help guide you and bring you spirituality or it can be found by oneself by yourself, or spirituality can guide you to a religion where you can find peace and happiness.

The question is an incongruous one. It's like asking what's the difference between a boat and the sea, respectively. They are certainly different but it doesn't matter how big the boat is, it's kind of a pointless question.
Religion, to be a religion needs structure and definition. Without prescribed boundaries or rules and rituals to express and illustrate them, religions would not exist. Religions have to be invented by people whereas spirituality is a part of the human condition and it really has no definition or form. If anything, religion is the antithesis of spirituality and not a compliment to it.
The variety of ways that people strive to attain spiritual fulfilment is testament it's indefinableness and, unlike religion, is unbound by the constraints of morality and concepts of right and wrong since it is a natural, organic phenomenon. Religions seek to control, harness and suppress the wild nature of spirituality, not nurture or enhance it but it wouldn't do to promote that, openly. Much like zoos pretend to protect and promote animals and nature, actually, they cage it, and deny it freedom; The same with churches, people and spirituality.
Oh, and God's relationship and involvement with religion, spirituality, boats, the sea, animals, people and nature, is entirely beside the point, equal on all sides, and can be eliminated, therefore, from the question.

Spirituality is a sense of meaning and purpose, a sense of self and 'that which is greater than self'. It's a way of living that emphasises a constant awareness of the spiritual dimension of nature, without any acknowledgement of a contractual relationship between the material world and the spiritual.
Religion represents only a minor subset of the overall themes of spirituality and spiritual practices, and may in some cases hinder rather than assist in spiritual development.
Religion is man-made. Spirituality is ingrained in every soul at inception.

Religion gives structure to spirituality but spirit exists in all things. Choosing a religion then can merely be a choice of structure to which you feel bests fits the spirit within and best serves the purpose for channeling it. A spiritual person is mearly a person in touch or aware of the spirit within while a religious person is a person who has found a way of structuring one self and life through discipline in order to better harbor that spirit and establish a link between the physical and spiritual world. However, it is very possible for one to be religious yet not be spiritual...

Religion is the formal believe system that is the basis for individual and group worship of a Deity. It varies from culture to culture and over time. Spirituality is, IMO, that deep longing of the human heart to reach out to the Devine. It is also the individual practices that deepens the relationship between the person and their God. All of this is just my opinion.

Religion is reaching God by the ways of man. True Christian spirituality is living life as led by the Spirit of God. Religion is determined by man's carnal mind. Spirituality is conceived by the mind of the Spirit and a mind renewed by God (Rom 8:5-9) Another way of looking at it, walking by sight is religion and walking by faith is spiritual.

Spirituality has to do with belief and philosophy. Religion is more about groups of folks with the same spiritual doctrine. (Or folks pretending to have the same doctrine)

Religion is anything one does on a regular basis.
For example, I brush my teeth every day, religiously.
It's a group of people who meet on a regular basis to share ideas and beliefs, right or wrong.
Spirituality is when a person has that unmistakable feeling inside that their heart is at peace with God, or whatever one wishes to address Him by. When your spirit is awakened for God and your best will for you, there brings peace and understanding of all people.

religion is a belief system while spirituality is an experience. Not all religious people are spiritual and not all spiritual people are religious.
