Is there a way to change the default player for video that is embedded in webpages? I do not want to use WMP to view embedded video; it causes crashes for some reason. Rather I want to use the DivX Web Player.

There appears to be no "options" for this.

I have no interest in using Firefox or some other web browser.

Aaroni, that did not help. It does not change which player is used to open video embedded in a webpage.

For example, if you go to www.wwe.com and try watch any of the videos, they automatically open with WMP. Or for that matter if you got to http://movies.yahoo.com and try to watch any of the video clips.

Go to My Computer and then click on 'Folder Options' under the 'Tools' menu. Then select the 'File Types' tab and change the program you want to use for the particular file type that you're trying to open.

im not sure, but try this
set the divx player as your default player for all video file types, and check the divx player options closely for some sort of option that might help you.

EDIT:
ok this question was really bugging me, so I went and did some research. So DiVx web player is just a player that the web developer himself has to embed into the page for it to appear.

ok go here,
http://www.divx.com/divx/webplayer/postinstall.php

if you have the divx webplayer installed it will work, because the designer himself put the player there.
Its kind of complcated to explain.
but the divx player wont appear everywhere you go to watch videos, only in places its meant to show up.

if you have a site and you wanna use the divx web player on it go here, and itll give you the code
http://www.divx.com/divx/webplayer/postinstall.php

on the other hand if wmp keeps crashing your browser, install quicktime and set it as your default video player for ALL video extentions. it might work, otherwise switch to Maxthon mate, its the same as ie but but better

the main present day version of the DivX WebPlayer one million.4.0 Beta 2 has a computer virus in it which motives the 404 blunders. DivX are looking into it, in accordance to their internet site. meanwhile, in case you uninstall your cutting-edge version and bypass decrease back to the only you had pre "improve" you would be superb.
