No most of the time, but yes as in the current church I now attend. It started with about 40 adults and kids and about 6 years later now has about 2,000 members and a second sanctuary built. On the negative side I have personally seen several attempts fail usually due to; the leader was not called by God, the leader was not tried and tested enough for the responsibilities, key church members were not held to biblical standards for leadership as in the Pastoral epistles, adultery, pride and over lording people. if anyone is seeking to start a home church it is best to have the prospective leadership under the guidance of other men of God who have shown a proven track record of being used by God to lead a healthy congregation, one that is seeking to be holy and preach the Gospel and grow. A lot of prayer needs to be done because "unless the Lord builds the house the workers labor in vain".

Not yet, but I have some really great ideas for an on-line church to help the poor and needy that isn't mainline religion. Which I abhor.
