Okay people calm down... Different society's believe different things and we need to remember that not everyone on this forum is in the USA... The average age worldwide of stopping nursing is 5 years, but that is taking into account under developed countries.
It is known as "extended" breastfeeding.
He is trying to tell you he is ready to stop... It is time to stop, if you have emotional issues that you still feel the need to breasfeed him then counseling is in order for you as there is an attatchement disorder underlining the problem.
The following website recommends you stop when the CHILD is
ready & Mom that is exactly what he IS telling
you.

"Extended" Breastfeeding
I am a biocultural anthropologist who has conducted research, since 1981, on cross-cultural beliefs and practices concerning infant/child feeding, growth and health, as well as the evolutionary underpinnings of human feeding practices. I am the acknowledged world expert on extended breastfeeding and weaning from both evolutionary and cross-cultural perspectives.
My research concludes that the normal and natural duration of breastfeeding for modern humans falls between 2.5 years and 7 years. Some children nurse less than 2.5 years, and some nurse longer than 7 years. It is quite common for children in many cultures around the world to be breastfed for 3-4-5-6-7 years, including quite a few in the U.S. (see below). My research on the age ranges for natural weaning has been published in a peer-reviewed scholarly book, and in the medical journal Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology (2004), and I have presented my research at many scientific meetings and conferences to audiences of anthropologists, doctors, nurses, lactation consultants, and other health care professionals.

You have GOT to be kidding. I didn't know people used this forum to joke around.
If you are not kidding, well - I feel extremely sorry for your 7 year old son. Stop breast feeding this kid - that is just wrong at this age.
The kid has more brains than you do. He's trying to tell you something - listen to him.

PLEASE, I've heard of people nursing their child until 4 years old but NEVER until 7. Your young son should be out playing ball with his friends. What do you call him in from soccer practice or up into the bleachers and nurse him? Do you see any other Mothers of boys this age nursing?????I guess you see you have flabbergasted the whole of Internet. Get over him and have another baby!!!!!!!

Here's a better idea - let's call Child Protective Services and get him removed from your house because it's considered sexual abuse at that age. There are names for people like you - they're called pedaphiles!! You're one sick bit--!!!! Let me guess, do you offer to breast feed his friends too?? Sicko!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're a freak and don't deserve to be blessed with kids!!!
BY THE WAY, THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A FORUM WHERE SOMEONE CAN GO TO GET SERIOUS ANSWERS AND ASK QUESTIONS THAT ARE CONSIDERED SERIOUS! IF YOU'RE GOING TO F--- OFF, DO IT WITH YOUR FRIENDS, IF YOU EVEN HAVE ANY. KEEP IT OFF HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm... sounds like you might want to try forcing him. Maybe a slight beating, or better yet, put him in a cage and starve him for a couple days, then ALL he will have to eat is your delicious breast milk from your voluptuous teats.
