ive had reconstructive jaw surgery 2 yrs ago in jan... i have metal plates in my lower and upper jaw all the way around (i got kicked in the face by a horse went i was 11) i was wondering why does my screws from my plates come out?? the doctor said i wont hurt if they one came out ive already had one plate removed, but i have another srew from my bottom jaw working its way out..it dont hurt no swelling...doctor says its fine ..does this mean that my jaw bone is growing together/healing?? they cut away 1 inch on the bottom jaw bone away. i was just wondering
thank you

SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT THAT ACCIDENT WITH THE HORSE. THE SCREWS NEED TO BE REMOVED BECAUSE THEY HAVE ACCOMPLISHED THEIR PURPSE AND NO LONGER ARE NEEDED.
THE HEALING HAS TAKEN PLACE!

There are several options, most of which I have tried unsuccessfully (works on a lot of people though!). If you have been told you have TMJ (TMD), you need to search for a maxillofacial surgeon that specializes in TMJ. Some treatments I have done for my jaw are physical therapy, mouth guard, arthorocentesis x2 , steroid injections x2, arthroscopic surgery x2, muscle relaxers, anti-inflammatories, pain meds, etc. Start with the least invasive (mouth guard, meds, physical therapy) to most invasive (surgery). It's been a long road for me and I'm still waiting for the next treatment to come out for me to try. In the mean time I am living on medication and pain. TMJ is very misunderstood and not well researched. Good luck!

Only have your surgeon answer this question , He knows what all was done to your jaw and no one else could answer this question correctly... So please be careful and ask your doctor..
