There have been some pretty good female fighters over the years, but there aren't any that would be considered famous outside of die hard boxing fans that everyday people would know other than Laila Ali, because of her father, not her ability. Christy Martin brought to the mainstream by making the cover of Sports Illustrated. Lucia Rijker (Billy Blue Bear) most famous for once fighting a man (she got knocked out) and from being the mean fighter in Million Dollar Baby.

Probably the only famous one is Laila Ali, Mohammad Ali's daughter.
I saw an interview with one of the women boxers on Million Dollar Baby. She was ranked very highly, and said that because she was a woman...she was lucky to get 1 or 2 fights a YEAR.
So, its hard to find a famous one, because there are so few fights.
