Yes, you can use lenses manufactured by third party vendors like Tokina, Tamron or Sigma. There are also adapters that let you mount older manual focus lenses on the Canon. Olympus wide angle lenses are being scarfed up by Canon users. The adapter makes you work in manual, stop down mode but with the quality of the lens it is sometimes worth the effort considering what Canon AF lenses cost.

As long as they have a canon mount. If it is a digital lens you may have a compatibility issue since this lenses have CPU built in that works with the camera focus, light meter and other functions. They may work on auto setting or manuals and might be made with cheap plastic materials not metal mount. I would go to the web sites of canon or the lens maker
web site to get some information. Personally I chose to use the
original lens that come with the body or the same lens maker as the original camera.

Depends on whether they are screw or bayonet. Check that the connecting system is the same as your Canon SLR, and if so, yes, you can.

Yes, just take the camera into a shop to make sure they fit. If your buying online, see if the site offers "fits the following makes" section.
