I was told that cops would not chase a speeding motorcycle due to the high amount of danger involved for the motorcycle rider, and because more often then not, the motorcycles top speed is greater then the police cruisers.

The answer depends on the jurisdiction's and the officer following you. Some city police departments have strict no chase policies of any type. Some county sheriffs offices have strict apprehension policies. As an example if the officer following you has been involved in three at fault accidents and is looking at desk duty for his next he may be less inclined to pursue where as the young rookie may be ready for anything.

A motorcycle has much less danger to the surrounding people then say an SUV. Since most motorcyclists in Northern America ride just a few months a year (depending on location) the chances are fairly high that an officer may consider the rider to be an accident waiting to happen. On one hand nobody should elude the police and on the other hand getting a ticket should not be a death sentence.

In conclusion it would also depend on what the crime was....

This law is active in California, San Francisco too. Well, not just motorcycle, even with a vehicle - If the chasing become a very nasty chase, making it more dangerous to the citizens, the police will call it off and force to give up.

It depends on the cop or state or city but it would be stupid to go that fast on a motorcycle because of how dangerous it is to go that fast on it because if some car came out of no where and the person on the motor cycle couldnt stop there done for most likely.

We could care less about the danger to the motorcycle rider. Pursuit policies are designed to protect innocent bystanders, not the offenders.
Motorcycles often are faster than patrol units but not every rider can stay upright for very long while evading officers.
