He loves to be petted, but after you pet him for a few seconds. He sticks his rearend towards you. Like he wants to be petted there. I heard somewhere that animals "moon" for certain reasons. Anyone know if this would be "mooning" and why it always does this. TIA

Small kittens always moon their mothers so she can inspect and clean their rear ends.
Your cat views you as a parental figure---domestic cats never really grow up. They do all kinds of kittenish behaviors. It is the only reason they can be pets; otherwise they are not that much different from wild cats.

No nothing is wrong with your cat,it is a feel good place to be petted like under your cats chin or the side of its face,if you pet your cat's back and she puts her bum in the air,she just wants a rub,I call them bum rubs lol

no need to worry
your cat just wants a tushy rub,my one cat does the same thing,he will come to were I'm sitting rub his head on my leg then back his tush up and stick it high in the air,and if i don't give him a tushy rub,he will look at me,meow this sad little meow then stick his tush up again.
he as actual learned the words,i just say wanna tushy rub and he comes running.

Believe it or not it is a way of saying hello. That's how animals greet each other. He is not trying to insult you.

That is because that is a turn on for some cats. It is normal.My cat,female, always did it.
