It seems like as long as you're a Christian, you can do anything, as long as you ask Jesus to forgive you/go to confession, you'll be granted eternal salvation. As a Buddhist, I think a belief in Karma is more a sign of responsibility in your faith, because you know it's coming back to you...not just easily forgiven.
Thoughts?
P.S. Any scientologists out there?
P.P.S Are you crazy?

Of course Christians aren't responsible they no longer have to be. Once they are saved they are bound for heaven and God forgives them for everything they do. They have a one way ticket to heaven so why should they act responsively.

Number one, there are hypocrites in ALL religions. All christians are NOT hypocrites. I understand the concept of buddhism and the karma theory. I'm a christian and i know that when i commit a sin, i have the abilities to ask GOD for forgiveness and He will grant me salvation. However, you must remember that though this method of gaining salvation is available, all christians do not utilize it. Everyone is held responsible for their actions in the christian faith. The christian faith has a similiar theory kind of like the karma theory. This isn't straight from the bible but basically, christians do believe that what goes around comes back around. Please don't assume that christians are hypocrites if you are not one. Just like any other religion there are those who don't practice the faith the way it should be done. Regardless of if you are jewish, buddhist, Apostolic, catholic, etc..it doesn't matter. If you don't follow the rules of your faith, then you could be considered a hypocrit. Christians stress that you should be as close to God as possible and commit no sins but it says that humans are sinful and it it up to you to WORK TO NOT SIN and if you happen to fall short, know that God still loves you and will forgive you if you ask Him and truly mean it. Lastly, for others who read this...if you are an atheist please do not make an assumption about others beliefs. I am a christian and respect your rights to not believe in anything. So please respect other christians rights to believe in something.

Why do you bunch all sects of Christianity into one? Only "born agains" believe you are completely saved once and for all for all sins. But those of us who know the bible and know our Lord and Savior, know that salvation and responsibility are an on going thing.. One must truly seek forgiveness and repent and turn from sin. One must also be responsible enough to recognize their sins.Responsibility is the main thing to ones salvation

Who cares? If they called their god by the name Santa or Easter Bunny, people would spot their retarded intellectual and emotional growth for what it is, a continuation of childlike beliefs and behaviors into adulthood. Christians are a reflection of their make-believe god. They take all the credit whenever anything good happens, whether they deserve it or not, and they blame others (or the devil, or their innately sinful souls) for everything that goes wrong (and it is only wrong when they are caught – just like children).

I am Christian and I follow a simple rule... the law of God that says do unto others as you will have them do unto you.... hypocrite never.... I love and trust in God with every thing within me and every fiber of my being so I do what is pleasing to God and not to myself. I do not make provisions for the flesh..... but I am not perfect and I am still learning God's will, so as I go if I stumble if I do something not knowing... I repent daily, and I don't know about you but it feels good to know that I serve a God who is forgiving.

The Bible teaches forgiveness is two fold. Confessing to and agreeing with God that what to have done/thought is wrong ( sin, literal meaning 'missed the mark', think archery) is step one.

The often neglected and 'watered down' step 2 is to repent (literal meaning, to turn around or change direction).

The problem then that arises is often people take matters solely into their own hands. If it were that simple to chance our behaviour society would not be plagued by so much evil and destruction.

The discipline of asking God to help to help you not continue. in the specific behaviour is the key.

As to your question of cheep forgiveness some who say they are followers of Christ practise I sadly agree.

Not all who claim to be Christians are,
Not all take the time to consider Gods Holiness.
Not all are totally committed.
Not all study Gods word
Not all strive to obey God
And none of us will be completely perfect this side of heaven,

As summery on forgiveness......
Romans 3:21-26(New Living Translation Bible)

But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago.We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are.

For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus.

Christians are forgiven, but still called to be responsible...there are still consequences for sin....that is why Jesus said to His disciples it is better for them to guoge their eyes out if they cause them to sin than to suffer the consequences of sin....
