for me it seems ridicolous that one nation has a minimum wage of about 10 dollars per hour, while another one is 25 cents per hour.
would not the illegal immigration be minimized if the highest wage was X amount of dollars per hour, and the lowest wage for any other nation would have to be 65% or higher from the X amount per hour instead of 25 cents per hour?

to answer the one who asked what state I was talking about.......
the 10 dollars minimum is of some nations(I didn't say USA, I said some nations)
for example, in Australia
the minimum wage for anyone 21 or over is about 10.25 USD per hour

is true that many moving here are exploited(sadly) but in their mind is worth it, as they use half of their money to have a place(apartments where 6 or 7 persons sleep in one bedroom) and minimum food, and sned the rest to their country, and that "small amount" of one month equals a year of work in their nation of origin

Bingo, finally you found the answer, Mexico its not a poor country, its a rich country, where a small amount of people have the money and can exploit another big percentage of poor people, these exploited person only earn enough money to survive, so they can get education and progress. minimum wage should be enough to provide minimun needs(and its the minimun permited to pay by gov), but in mexico its a ridicolous amount of money, the money its for poeple that have bussines. and the Mexican gov its accomplice of this injustice approving to pay less than what people really need.

You say this wearing clothes that were stitched by people being paid $2 a day (if lucky) and living in a house that the same people could not afford a month's rent on a year's salary. The underpayment of workers will always be a problem in poor nations. The US will always have to have a higher minimum wage if landlords insist on being paid their rent. It cost more to live in the US so we have to be paid more. The illegal immigrants who come to our country very rarely are paid that precious minimum wage (which have you tried living on $5.15 an hour because that is the federal minimum wage) Most immigrants are paid around $2 an hour and many are paid less with threats of calling the police to any who complain. Living in Texas and working for a church I saw many hard working people forced to live in crowded conditions because of unscrupulous employers. These people come to America to try to give their children something better than they had. It is the same reason why we go to colege and get good jobs, to give our children something better than we had. We cannot force nations into a standard minimum wage and we cannot stop people from crossing the border. What we can do is remember that these people are just like you and me. They just want to make a good living and to take care of their family. If leaving all they know behind and going to a country where they are often reviled and hated for their desire to care for their family is what it takes, then that is what they will do. When your child is starving or can't get medicine, you will do anything to get him what he needs.

Dude, ten dollars an hour is not the minimum wage here.....more like five to seven! What state are you from? AZ was five and change now raised it to just under 7....
But yeah, what you say would be ideal.
However:
1) How are we going to force Mexico to raise its minimum wage and sustain such a drastic economic change,
and
2) what about the companies which fund our politicians? they profit from cheap labor on Mexican soil!

I dont know where your gettin $10/hr for minimum. The National minimum wage is at $5.15.
In California all areas except San Francisco County its $6.75 and in San Francisco County its $8.50. I've yet to see it anywhere in the U.S. above $8.50

Uh, duh...Are you trying to make the point that people from the country with the low minimum wage will move to the one with the higher minimum wage? Thanks a lot Capt. Obvious.

Because of law. If there was no law agains immigration, there would not be anyone illegal.
If you meant just immigration, then this is God`s world- free for people to choose where to live and how to live etc

you got a good point there. Now the only problem is how to convince anyone with the power to do that to make it happen.
