yes, fat is caused by unused calories and fat, so if you eat more in the morning, the fat and calories will get used up during the day like by walking or moving around. Its better then eating a lot during dinner then a few hours later, going to bed and just laying there still which doesnt use much up much calories but just turns them into extra fat.

Yes, doctors say breakfast is the most important part of the day because it jump starts the metabolism and gives you energy so you can concentrate on things other than your stomach. Don't ever skip a meal! That slows your metabolism. The average adult should eat 2-3 portioned meals a day and 2-3 small healthy snacks such as raw fruits and veggies or light dairy(yogurt or a slice of cheese). The other rule is never eat less than three hours before bed. If you go to bed at 10:00 pm, don't eat after 7:00 pm. This is the time most people settle in their houses creating less of a chance to burn calories. The idea of so many meals is to keep you metabolic rate up by constantly burning energy.

Weight loss diet tips
There is one straight rule as far as any weight loss diet is concerned. If you are going for any successful weight loss diet, it must contain fewer calories; less food to eat but that must be healthy food.
Weight loss dietIf you are following any diet, which allows you to eat anything to lose weight, you are fooling yourself. Follow these dieting tips to lose weight:
* Don’t miss breakfast
* Do not eat too much in the evening especially if you have little time for exercise afterwards. It is always good to eat more when you are going to be more active.
* Always take hearty breakfast, a substantial lunch, and a light dinner.
* Do not eat any thing when you are watching TV, working on the computer and doing some work.
Stop frying food.
* If you must snack, stock the fridge with low calorie snacks like raw vegetables and low fat yogurt.
I think these weight loss diet tips are going to help you.

While it is true that breakfast do give you the calories you need to get going in the morning, it is a myth that eating at particular intervals at various times during the day (especially at night) will make you lose or gain weight.
Calories are simply used for energy to help an individual sustain activities. If a person requires more energy for more physical activities (such as in athletes), more caloric intake need to be taken. On the contrary, those who don't exercise or are involved in more strenuous activities need less calories. Thus, if the person ingest more calories than body requirement, the body stores it in fatty tissues (adipose tissues).
Point is, if you need about 2000 calories per day that neither make you gain or lose weight to help sustain your usual daily activities, it doesn't matter how much you eat during the day or at night as long as you stay within that range.
Another suggestion is try small but more frequent meals. And as with any diet plan, exercise is really the key to weight loss.
There is no specific answer that I can provide for you without additional information about you because calorie intake is entirely dependent on the person's height and weight (for body mass index), and daily activities. You can chart your own individual weight loss plan with the link I provided. I hope this helps.

Yes, a good meal in the morning will jump start your metabolism helping you burn more calories throughout the day. If you skip breakfast, your body will respond as if you are fasting and begin to conserve fuel and burn less energy (low metabolism). Eating food at the end of the day when you are less active will not give you ample opportunity to use your food intake as fuel, and it will be stored as fat.
A good healthy breakfast followed by frequent small meals (grazing) throughout the day will maintain a healthy metabolism and energy level. If you eat in the evening, try to eat only light foods that will digest quickly and not sit in your stomach overnight (such as fruit).

its best to start the day with a good breakfast because your body depends on it being fed to keep it going. Diabetics like myself have learned that a good breakfast stabilises you. However if you wish to lose weight, its best to eat more often each day - up to 6 times a day - with small portions of fresh meat/fish/veg and fruit than try and stick to not eating between meals. That way you dont feel hungry and dont feel you are "doing without and on a diet".

Yes, because you have the rest of the day for the food to to work through your system.
Going to start doing the same myself, have been eating far too late and weight is increasing daily.
God luck.

Agree broadly with most of the answers.
One point though - if you eat then sleep it will turn to fat. Generally speaking.
Healthy breakfast = Main meal.
Moderate lunch.
Light supper.
Supper actually means to 'sup', back in the day it was usually a cup of broth.
