Will it lighten my hair up to possibly light brown and is it harmful to my hair. Its clairol herbal essence in case ur wondering.

The only way to lighten hair is to use peroxide/bleach. Its easy to darken hair but not to go from dark to light without using chemicals. There are some dyes out there that can give a highlight effect to dark hair e.g. veggies based ones like Special Effects and Manic Panic but no matter what the makers claim using a blonde temp packet on brown hair or brown temp packet on dark brown hair wont do much at all - sorry

it depends on what color it is. if you have black hair and its blonde it will probably do nothing. and if it does it will just give you reddish highlights. if you have dark brown hair and its blonde it will lighten it to light brown. and it wont harm your hair unless you do it often in a row. ive dyed my hair for 14 years straight and my hair is ok. just make sure you havent done anything chemically to it in the past couple weeks you might want to wait then. and if you are still in doubt just talk to a stylist they will answer your questions. hope my answer helped some.

oh close up, bypass lower back to the place you got here from. in case you dye your hair all spectacular and blonde, in general on your variety given which you have dry, horibble pitch black hair it seems green. err. stressful success.

No, you need peroxide to lift.
