It sure beats sending in our same troops over to Iraq for a third or fourth tour of duty. It also helps to bring the National Guard back home where they supposed to be. If you're going to have a war, don't do it half-assed like bush did and not send in enough troops.

Mary Cheney, Jenna Bush and Barbara Bush should be the first to go!

I have no problem with it. And it will probably start with 18-25. It only went to 42 in WWII because so many Americans had already served and that many died in that war.

This is the umteenth time he has tried to pull this stupid stunt and i hope the democratic party is finally sick of it. The last time he did it it got voted down 401-2. How he got 1 person to support this bill besides himself is beyond me.
He's a Harlem resident and he thinks that poor black men would fare better in the military if their fates were tied more to kids of rich white familys. I hate him like poison. AND I'M A DEMOCRAT!

Guy keeps bringing the same BS bill every session. Got voted down 420-2. Not needed, not wanted by the military, pure political grandstanding for the Sunday talk shows. Another sign the Black Caucus has lost it's relevance in DC. But hey Yahoo! Lib's that what YOU VOTED FOR. Enjoy.........

I agree! No deferments, no exemptions. 18-42 men and women, except the disabled, depending on their disability, they could serve in supportive roles!

Stupid. The US doesn't need cannon fodder -- it needs people who can learn how to maintain and use complex weapons, and draftees don't stay around long enough. That means volunteers, and paying them enough to keep them happy.
