Actually, I believe the age limits are 18-26 and your age determines the order in which you are called based on a national lottery. I found this information at sss.gov which is the selective service website for the US. It explains how the draft works, exemptions etc...

under the previous draft equipment, the decrease age grew to become into 18 and the better cut back grew to become into 35. Presumeably, the youngest could be taken first as they're the fittest. A volunteer could desire to bypass in the service at 17 with their dad and mom' approval.. besides the undeniable fact that, that's to not say the an prolonged time could be an analogous under a clean draft, could desire to it particularly is mandatory. i could be in choose of usual militia service. everyone is going, barring in basic terms undesirable well-being or kinfolk elect. that's the only extremely honest equipment.

if you are referring to america, there is no draft. there have been several resolutions before congress to reinstate "conscription" (the draft) but all have failed. the age ranges have varied from 18-25 to 18-40.

and, by the way, it was a democrat who was trying to reinstate it, i don't know if that means anything, i just thought i would mention it
