You might try Aloe Vera(100% Organic) or Hydrogen Peroxide.

I've never seen this, so my answer may not hit the mark, but....

Puss bumps in the hair follicles is usually a staph infection. If this is the case, then I would not use Neosporin - my kids developed a few on their legs after I treated constantly with antibiotic ointment for bites, etc. The antibiotic ointment actually seems to make it worse somehow. I kept them open and clean, and they went away posthaste.

As far as treating with antifungal cream, etc. I wouldn't - just keep her hair clean (shampoo every other night) dry & brushed. You may be upsetting the balance by killing off all of the good bacteria with antibiotic cream, and further doing damage with the antifungal. Wait until you know for sure that it is fungal. Why didn't your doctor test the puss?? Especially if you know what the outcome was with your niece?

You might want to look online for homeopathic foods that will help to stimulate/support her immune system.

Good luck.

Go to a dermatologist. A regular M.D. isn't as "up" on treatments as a specialist is. Good Luck!!!!!
