My fiance and I are budgeting $20,000 for our wedding. Just wondering if this is high, low, or average.

The average wedding in the United States has 186 guests and costs $18,000. So, $20,000 is a great budget and you will have a wonderful wedding. (My wedding cost $35,000 so answerer piepiepie can eat her bitter pie...don't listen to her).

To see how far that $20,000 will go, go to www.weddingchannel.com and click on the "budget calculator". It will give you a comprehensive break down of where each dollar should go. It will make planning so much easier!

We spent about $9000 Australian which is roughly $5000 US. It was beautiful. I had everything that i wanted. We live in a small town so things are fairly cheap there. The reception cost $4000 for 120 guests and they say that it was one of the niceest weddings they had been to and the best food they had ever had. You just need some imagination and leave out the things that nobody really notices.

$20,000 is average according to nationwide spending practices. For my area it is a little more high that "average" but not much.

My own wedding however will cost $6,750 (thats with honeymoon). I live in a small town (which helps lower costs, and since I am a planner I am utilizing all the cost cutting tips I know that work without cheapening the wedding).

Depending on what kind of weddings you would like. 20 grand sounds very reasonable. My husband and I got married 1 1/2 ago and we had two weddings in two different state. We spent over $100 grand. Sounds crazy huh? Well.. we both came from huge families...each wedding there are 300-400 guest. We flew 20 of our families from one state to another. We paid for all bride'smaid and groom's men rental....it was a very expensive wedding but glad we did. Everyone still talks about our wedding. I appreciate all the help my bride'smaid/groom's man took the time for our wedding it's only right for us to paid for their rentals.

We're budgeting not more than 1500 €. Already spent 500 € for the papers and 190 € for the rings. For foods, we also already booked a restaurant and it would cost around 300 € (for 20 persons). I would bake our cake, and made a guestbook done by myself (thinking about having a wedding favor, but not so sure about it).

Both (him and me) never wanted a big wedding. The essential is that legal aspect. :-D

It sounds like a nice sized wedding, but every wedding costs different due to location, wants, etc. For instance, renting a hall in NYC might run 4000-5000 while in the midwest would cost you 500-1500.

My wedding will cost roughly 6000$ (probably less). Pretty much I have saved on every aspect of my wedding. I have went to the bridal shows, got coupons, used a VFW, making own invites, etc. So mine is relatively low.

It all depends on time of day, location, and your own tastes- but 20k isnt bad at all- very normal for most weddings

My wedding was about 3,000, my family did everything. We had friends that owned a church with a reception hall next door. We rented the props and everything. And bought invitations. It was beautiful. You want your wedding to be memorable but only spend what you can afford. Good Luck, God Bless

The national average for weddings is 26k (it just went up from 22k)...in the DC metro area the average is more like 40k (up from 35k). If you live in a metro area (DC or LA) it is going to be 10-20k more because of the location.

My parents paid about 23,000 for our wedding. If we had been the ones paying for it, we would have did 2,000 or less lol It's really crazy to spend that much money on one day - save your money for a downpayment on your first house, kid's college funds, etc.
