The Swiss word "Automat" means anything which is a machine.
From a coffee machine to a ticket printer, and even a car with automatic transmission, everything is a "Automat'.
Is there not another word in-front of automat on your box?

"The Automat", made in Switzerland, is a mechanical engineer's assembly kit (much more advanced than an Erector Set). It can be used to make prototypes of mechanisms. Automat MAY mean any thing that is a mechanism. But, THE AUTOMAT in a wooden box made in Switzerland, refers to the engineers building kit!
