Addicted to carbs, I opted to go on the Atkins Diet. During my dieting phase, I had joined karate with my girls, and I dropped about 30. That was about 4 years ago, and I've since gained it back due to lack of exercise, and my hysterectomy. I need to read some of your answers to get some motivation myself. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!!

I'm pretty lean now, but I work hard all day. Back when I was sedentary, I ate too much fat (mostly cheese, ice cream and fried stuff) and too much pasta! After getting to be about 40-50 lbs overweight, I'd had enough. I looked like a bloated lumberjack and wanted to impress this woman I was interested in (who's now my wife! :)
I started riding my bike, but on the first hill, though I was going to collapse, I was so out of breath! But I kept at it and also bought an exercise bike. I cut WAY back on pasta, bread, cheese & other fats, tho' I never became a "crunchy-granola" guy! I just ate more veg's and lean meat, whole grain and LESS of it!
I was younger (26), so I dropped the weight fast and kept it off. Also, I kept exercising. Still, this method will work for someone older; they just won't lose it as quickly (usually). Also, women don't often lose weight as fast as men (hormones and less muscle mass).
No matter what diet you go on, it should be nutritious and have the right food groups and you should exercise. Ideally, at least 1/2 hr. a day, 3-5 times a week is good, though you can do more. Cutting out carbos for a long time is NOT a good idea!
You should aim for no more than 2 1/2 lbs of weight loss per week. More than that and you can start losing muscle weight, which isn't good (your heart is a muscle!). You'll also screw up your metabolism and gain the weight back when you go back to eating normally.
Good luck!

Diet = eliminated red meat and pork from my diet and even went completely vegetarian for a year. Lost about 20 lbs.
Exercise = weight train 4 days a week and 30 mins of cardio twice a week on the days I don't lift.
Supplementation = I've tried fat burners in the past as well to help when I hit a plateau. The best thing on the market is RedLine made by VPX - its better than the old Hydroxycut w/ effedra. My female roommate takes the liquid before she runs and she is so excited that she can fit into her clothes - she runs about 3 times a week for about 20 mins and for her diet she uses portion control.
Dont's = No mayo, fried foods, sugar, transfats, I try to avoid anything containing MSG (which usually mean comfort foods in a box or bag). I prepare most of my foods at home and rarely eat at fast food restaurants (okay maybe Subway 6 times a year). I do not drink alcohol. Diet sodas only (should I have the craving)
Ive been a gym rat for about 2.5 years now and lost more than 40lbs and now I am looking to to get down to 8-12% body fat so I can show off a chiseled six pack this summer....

How to lose 10 pounds quickly
You know Christmas is around the corner. Christmas is the season of parties, celebrations, enjoyment and buying new stuff like clothes, gifts and what ever you like. Why not set a goal for yourself to lose 10 pounds in the next few days and it will help you find a better dress for you as you will feel more confident and more comfortable after losing some weight.
Christmas weight lossIt is a great feeling even after losing very small amount of weight as that motivates us to lose more weight. The very first thing you can do is that calories consumed must be less than the calories burnt. Keep the record of each and every thing what ever you eat. Check out the amount of calories in a food before ordering that. So you have to be very careful about the amount of calories you consume.
Try to cook your food by yourself and avoid deep fried food. Limit your calories intake to 1000 to 1200 per day. Remove all sugar and starch from your diet.
So here are some quick tips to lose 10 pounds quickly
* Drink lot of water
* Eat a healthy breakfast
* Do not eat any thing in between the meals
* Exercise everyday for 30 minutes at least
So go ahead with this and gives yourself a Christmas gift by losing more pounds and look sexier, healthy and more confident.

I went back to the basics..ate fewer calories and did more exercise. I eat a high fiber breakfast every day ( Kashi go-lean or Vibe) and then every few hours eat something ( an apple, fiber bar) I got hooked on Gnu foods fiber bars. they are natural and have only 130 calories per bar. Salad with some chicken or an egg for lunch ( balsamic Vinegar only..no oil) and a light dinner. When I go out to eat, I eat healthy but if i really want something, I have it...period. no more cravings and depriving myself..I walk stairs instead of the elevator whenever possible ( Iive on the 7th floor so I do that up and down at least once a day). I have lost 80 pounds in 6 months and want to drop another 20. I am starting wih a personal trainer and while I have been jogging, i want to start running to keep building my endurance.
Good luck

Honest to god exercise has been key. My diet's tough to control 'cause I'm a social eater, but I try.
I was close to 150lbs when I started (and I'm 5'3"). I'm edging close to 125 now. The last time I weighed 125lbs was when I was 15 -- I'm 26 now.
I lift weights and do 30 minutes of cardio 3 or 4 times a week. I have a very well-used membership to 24 Hour Fitness. I also work with a personal trainer once a week.
I cut most of the alcohol out of my diet, switched from white rice to brown, whole grain pastas and whole grain bread, too. I eat more veggies now. I cook for myself when I can -- eating out is terrible for me! I also watch my caloric intake whenever possible.
I have never been in such good shape. I'm fit and my endurance is great. I play sports regularly (tennis, soccer plus winter sports like skiing and snowboarding). Shapewise, I'm a 5/6, and super curvy with lots of muscle.
It wasn't easy, but I put in the effort and earned what I've got. I'm happy.

I'm doing Atkins. I've dropped 40 pounds so far, and still losing. I'm also making sure I get regular exercise ("If you're not exercising, you're not doing Atkins"). Every morning at work I walk up to the 9th floor (where I work). Then in the evening I walk for 45 minutes.

I would alternate yoga and running every day and I didn't keep any junk, candy, or soda in the house so I wouldn't want to eat it. I didn't eat in smaller portions to the point where I was starving, but I would eat until I was just full. Awesomeness.

drink lots of water and reduce your food intake. Less flour, sugar and fried foods should help. You can also go to www.safemedsforless.com they have a wide variety of natural remedies as well as over the counter drugs and if you don't have a perscription for meds they doctor there can give you one and buy your meds online.
