The "Duchenne smile", after the researcher Guillaume Duchenne, is the most studied, and involves the movement of both the zygomaticus major muscle near the mouth and the orbicularis oculi muscle near the eyes. An example of the smile is shown in the girl's smile in the middle of the page. It is believed that the Duchenne smile is only produced as an involuntary response to genuine emotion, and is therefore what one could call the "genuine" smile. Due to the involvement of the muscle near the eyes, it is sometime said that one can tell whether or not a smile is "real" by whether or not it "reaches the eyes".
The "Pan American smile", on the other hand, is the voluntary smile involving only the zygomaticus major muscle to show politeness; for example, by a flight attendant on the former airline of the same name. Considered "insincere", this type of smile has also been called the "Professional Smile" by David Foster Wallace in his comedic short story A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Agai

Depends on the smile. A shy coy smiles means that a person likes you. If the person is looking at you decetfully it means they know something you don't. I large smile that goes cheek-to-cheek that means you make that person really hapy, and they might like you. A weak Mona-Lisa smile means that either the person is sad about something, or they are forcing a smile but they really don't want to smile at you because you may have hurt them.
Mainly, if you are trying to figure out if someone is giving you a real smile or not basically there is s way to know. Firstly, look into their eyes. If you can see the fleshy part of their top eye-lid that means it's real. Nextly, if their smile looks like the letter D as apposed to being really long and streaching to the far ends of their mouth it means that the smile is real since it's invulentary. A fae smile is basically one where the mouth is streached out way too far because the concious mind is controlling it. Hope this helps.

Absolutly! One of the best peices of advice I have ever gotten is :
If you can make a person smile within the first 30 secs of eye contact you are golden. There is a definant chemistry there!
sounds cheesy but never failed

a smile changes everything, even the smile of a child. I am a guy & a lot of times when I'm upset or down a smile just brightens my day.
