I need some serious help with split ends. I recently moved from the desert to the plains and my naturally curly hair has developed split ends that have split ends. I literally have hairs with four ends. I haven't changed anything about my daily hair routine. Should I? Or should I know something about windy- one-minute and hot-the-next weather? I went for a trim and about a week after she trimmed a good 3-4 inches off my whole head, my new ends split. Apparently, the entire shaft of my hairs are weak. Shaving my head or getting a super short cut is not really an option for a big-headed curl like me. I need advice.

You should use a leave in hair conditioner everyday that also includes UVA and UVB sun protection. Then you should smooth a repair cream, such as the one from Schwarzkopf, that is specifically made to repair split ends. Be sure NOT to comb your hair when it is wet. This pulls on the hair and causes it to break. Limit blow drying as well since excessive heat damages the hair. Be sure to take a multi-vitamin and perhaps a separate Omega 3-6-9 and/or Vitamin E pill to strengthen the hair.

I hate to say it but the honest answer to this is to cut then at least 1 or 1/1 inch from splits and start over. Take Vitamin E. (ask Dr first) It's typically safe though. And use a good conditioner that u can leave in hair that has sun ray protection.
Stay away from harsh chemicals as much as u can. Mouse is safer for ur hair spareinly than jell or hair spray, which can cause split ends later.

For dry hair pls try these hot oil massages....they will help in maintaing the natural sheen of your hair and will also condition your hair:

Hot oil massages: Warm 2 tsp. of olive oil and 2 tsp. coconut oil and gently massage every part of the scalp for 10-15 minutes. Rinse a towel in hot water, wipe and wind the hair around the head as it cools. Repeat 2 or 3 times to issue total saturation. After that, shampoo and rinse well. It is good for brittle dry hair.

Hot Caster oil massage: Warm ½ cup of castor oil, massage into scalp and gently comb it. Bind the hair with hot towel on the head, wait for 30 minutes. Shampoo and rinse. As it is home made is so good to use for scanty hair.

Clove oil honey massage. Stir well ½ cup of green olive oil with 1 cup of liquid honey. Shake vigorously. Keep the mixture to settle for a day or two. Massage into the scalp and comb it not touching the scalp. After massaging cover hair with plastic shower cap. Make it air tight to let the heat penetrate, leave like that for 20 to 30 minutes. Then shampoo and rinse well. It is good for dark hair to keep it shining and lustrous.

Best ways to make you free from split ends is do not comb in the wet hair .Use a good herbal shampoo and avoid frequent changing of shampoo.Make sure you drink a lot of water as water contains minerals.Apply henna at least once a week.Oil your hair with a combination of almond oil and castor oil mixed and warm together.Do not expose your hair to extreme heat or temperature.Manage to trim off your split ends.Do not back comb.

Take care!

I have problems with split ends too because i damaged my hair severly by highlighting and straghtening it. I first suggest going to get your hair trimed again and then get a anti breakage shampoo and conditioner and DEEP CONDITIONER for damaged hair. Pantiene has a wonderful new restoring line. You dont neccisarily need somthing that says moisturizing it has to say damaged hair. Also if you dye your hair with permanent hair dye please stop because that is really taking a toll on your hair. Semi permanent dyes will work. If you blow dry your hair try to use the lower setting this will do less damage also.

Get it trimmed to start fresh, then use a high moisture shampoo and conditioner, or a shampoo for damaged hair. I like Dove.
