Alot of people have a mild form of depression that will last from a few weeks to a few month during the year, winter being the most prevalent time. Sunshine, believe it or not controls it. Sunshine Lamps or also called full spectrum lamps are sold in many stores. These can be purchased to use in one's home. I have one for my mother as she is in a wheel chair not wanting to go outside at all. It improves her disposition, too....but that's another story...... There are those that have a moderate form of depression that can still maintain somewhat normal way of life, but don't really experience life.....and there are those that should seek out a physician with whom he can learn why he is depressed, chemical or emotional and if the Dr sees a need, medication be prescribed. And even with that said, there are those that are in between what was said, combinations of some or all. So it will all depend where you think you are. Good nutrition, vitamins and exercise can help with mild depression, jogging, walking(at a pace that gets your heart going) lifting lite resistance weights will also help you to feel better, they will also get you to thinking better and more clearly. If these don't seem work, don't hesitate to call a crisis line any time of day or night or make an appt to see a Dr.

Well first of all, how do you know you are depressed unless you have been diagnosed? I have been treated for depression for years and it is nothing to be ashamed of!!!! And the medications that are available today are so much better than they used to be. So I say, you need to go see your medical doctor and the two of you decide what is wrong and go from there. Depression is nothing to be ashamed of especially in this day and time. However, not getting treatment or talking to someone such as your minister, priest, etc., would be a shame!! Have a great evening and please think about what I have said. Happy Thanksgiving!!! Cindy Roo

Well I have severe depression and I've been taking medications, but if you don't want to take any medications maybe seeing and talking with a therapist on a regular basis about how your feeling will help you. The medications that they have today really do work wonders for depression and other mental disorders. Good luck to you.

well, you can take a regimen of mood enhancing herbs or vitamins-for example, St John Wort. Also, you can try eliminating stress and depressing things from your life. However everyone is different and depending on your severity and type of depression, medication may be necessary.

Counseling. Depression medicines are meant to help with depression, they are in no means, a cure. The best thing is to speak to someone who can help you find the root of your problem and begin to help to teach you how to take control of it.
Never give up. Best of luck
