Hi! I've been living with panic attacks for 27 years now and it's hell sometimes. Everyone's are different and people react differently to different things. I do biofeedback, meditation, prayer, go on retreats and take cybalta (antidepressant). I have become a real success story, but I am always aware that I am not in control because some attacks are involuntary. I just rely on God and the knowledge he has given to my doctor. I push my limits of fear because it is so easy to close myself in my room. I make myself go into places that are terrifying to me (stores, cars, clubs, school rooms, churches and high places) I keep telling myself that they won't kill me even though that's how I feel. Don't be afraid of getting doctor's help and getting antidepressants because sometimes the loss of certain chemicals in the brain, if not treated can cause mental deteriation in the future. Good luck to you! You must be a very caring, good person for you to have these attacks. They usually happen to deep, empathetic people. God bless!

There in a good number of cases is an underlying reason (or motives, plural) for panic attacks. so as it really is what you want to look at. Is there an part of your existence (ie, well-being, relationships, occupation) that desires significant interest, that you're also ignoring? if so, you want to make sure a therapist to artwork by that stuff. i have reported it formerly, i am going to assert it again, the hardest ingredient about soliciting for help is-- soliciting for help. Make the phone call, come across a therapist, do not difficulty about funds because you may be said someone who will communicate with you without regard to what you may locate the money for. yet, first and excellent, commence making some phonecalls to get help. solid success to you.

Yes, believe it or not I would have trouble breathing every time I went to Wal-Mart. It would start before I got in and I couldn't wait to get out. Since it was necessary to go being it was the only big store in my town, I had to find a way to cope. I would hold my breath untill I had to take a deep breath. So I just concentrated on deep breathing. I also took a friend with me to help me not to dwell on it. Just work on it and you can overcome it . Good luck.

I have absolutely horrible panic attacks. I thought I was having a heart attack once and went to the E.R. When I get them my body gets numb and tingly, I have chest pains, I can't breathe, I feel like I am dying and no matter what I tell myself it still lasts a while. They are very scary and the fear of having another makes me have one. I don't have insurance and cannot afford counseling or medication, so when I have an attack or if I feel like I am going to, I take benadryl. It makes me tired and it blocks the histamines released by the stress. (When I went to the E.R. the Dr. gave me an antihistamine and told me it was anxiety.)

When I used to get them I did a lot of self-talk, and kind of talked myself out of it. Deep breathing is something else that worked for me. If it didnt go away, my last resort was to take a nap, and when I woke up, I was usually fine.

i am bipolar and i always have panic and anxiety attacks. i'm not on any medication for it either, which is the strongest recommendation from others. but i choose not to get on meds, i've done it before and makes me feel a mess. other people says it helps them a lot and they would be lost without them. but i have taken a different approach. there is natural things you can do to balance your moods, like take vitamins (St. Johns Wort), getting more sleep, changing your diet, and etc. but like i said, medication also works, but this totally depends on you. i hope this helped.

Try taking a slow walk around your house or neighborhood, breathing slowly in though your nose and out your mouth. But get outside. I am with you, as are many others, good luck!

I used to have them a lot when I was younger. You just have to talk to yourself and tell yourself that you are not going to die, that the feeling will pass. Do not hyperventilate. Concentrate on slowing your breathing down.

First of all, keep telling yourself to "Relax and think," over and over again. In itself, this can be very relaxing. Also, try some milk, cutting down on salt and caffiene, decreasing frustrating and/or stressful situations from your life, and SEEING YOUR DOCTOR!
