Hello. I was just wondering if anyone knew how I can improve my writing. Ive been told by my professors that I have a lot of awkward sentences in my essays and I want to improve. Any suggestions or links would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Read as much as you can. By reading the work of good writers, you will absorb some of their writing styles and structures. I recommend F. Scott Fitzgerald and the short stories of Alice Munro. Get a good grammar book and do the exercises that teach how to write correct sentences. See if you can take a grammar course.

well...try to proofread your essay before you turn it in. Oh and I have learned that you cannot really find the mistakes that you made in your own essay. Try to grab a friend that can proofread your essay. I'm good at writing today because I remember my mom used to buy me these lame grammer and writing books when I was a kid. Another way is to read a lot because it helps you see the different ways an author tries to tell the reader the plot or conflict of the story. But mostly, I think you should get a friend to proofread it for you.

One way is reading a lot, I listen to books on tapes. It expands your ability to use the English language. Other than that practice.
