I have the same problem. I think it would work to just kinda talk to him, and don't act all freaked out when he comes near. But I'm too shy to talk to him, so that doesn't work for me. it might work for you, though.
Oh, and you were right. You should stop acting hyper.

Ask for help with your homework, then get around to telling him you are the reason you get so nervous in class. But take it slow, you have your whole life ahead of you yet, if it doesn't work out there will be plenty of others.

um, hate to sound corny, but...quit trying to impress him and be yourself. how do you expect someone to like you when they don't even know who you really are? it's never too late to start over, just be you and stuff. Be less of a friend and more as flirt toward him...the jokes are fine, but too many can show signs of uncomfortability...good luck!

Be yourself! When you talk to him, think of something you would say to one of your friends (that isn't all girly) and say that to him. Check yourself as the conversation continues by asking yourself if you would say these things to your friends. Most of all, be honest - nice, but honest
