Most of the time this happens when I'm working for hours at a time. Can anyone suggest how to keep this from happening or how to relieve the pain? It's like a tight muscle pain in my upper back. (Around the shoulder blades)

this is a very common complaint....every half hour you spend on the computer you should then break for 1 minute and stand up and stretch...also, look into purchasing an ergonamically correct chair or insrt for your chair...shift your weight often and make sure your feet ar flat on the floor, this will help with your posture...take care

Simply make sure you reverse your position frequently.. sitting usually invites slouching.. If you stretch backward over your chair, you will be taking some pressure off those muscles which work to keep you upright, when seated. Will also stretch those muscles in the front of the spine which will shorten with disuse. As well as losing some of the elasticity of the ligamentous structure in the front of the spine.
