The table has 2 columes. Now I want to make the line between these 2 columes invisible. How do I do that?

Pull down the Format menu and select Borders and shading. You can then click on the borderline you want to erase.

Do you want to at least see the gridlines so you know where you're at? Click Table, Show Gridlines.

Do you have a border around the two columns? I don't think it would look good not to have a line between, but if that's what you want:

Hold the cursor just above the first column until you see a thick arrow pointing down. Click. That will select the first column only.

Now, click View, click Toolbars, click Table. It will probably be a floating table. You will see a box with a line displayed. At the top of the list it will say "no border." Click that.

On the Table Toolbar you will see a button with a square and a down arrow. Click the down arrow. Click on the button with a square and a line on the right only. That will remove the line from the right side of the first column.
