I would never let my 13 year old daughter date a 17 year old! You should really talk to your Mom about this.

I dont care how much you like him, he could look like Federline but you are too young to chase a boy. The only dating you should be doing is chaperoned and many believe it is even too early for that. You are still just a child even though you dont feel like one. He is 17 and as soon as he turns 18 he can go to jail for being with you. Do you think he wants that?
You are a minor. And 13 is way to young to get serious or to have sex so I really hope you are not thinking about that. It could just ruin your life. If you take time to get to know guys as friends first and then date when you are 15-16 that is better. And take your time there is no rush to find a guy. If you make a mistake you can live with it the rest of your life (pregnancy, STD's, an Abusive man) and that is a long long time.

Well in California there is a 3 year age limit and if your parents found out, they could arrest him.
My younger brother had this situation and the parents on both sides had a problem with the relationship. It ended up that she broke up with him to be with someone else.
The best thing to do would be stay friends with him and wait til you even know if you have things in common. If thing progress by the time your 18 go for it.

I know how difficult that must be, but yes, I say it is too risky. I really think that the guy must either have some flaws that would make him go for someone a lot younger than he is (ie, insecurity, low self-esteem, loner) or he is just looking for easy sex by making you think he is in love.

im 14 and ive been in your spot before because i have always liked older guys and right now i like 17 year old guy. and if he really likes u then he will make the next move .but just make sure u stay on is mind but dont do anything crazy

I dont think you should. If he is almost 18 one of your parents might one day not like him and call the cops on him for dating a minor. Then again you still have high school to go to. And you dont drive and hes goes places you dont best thing for you is to stick to someone your own age.
