SOFT LEAD IN: It's pretty easy to understand the creator of all things needed to speak to different peoples in different ways. Therefore, there are many forms of worship for the same creator for all.
ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION: The division comes from people believing they have a mutual exclusivity to an eternity, to which those that do not share those beliefs are entitled.
OBNOXIOUS BOY COMMENT: Personally, I would rather be your servant, Optimystical one, and just do whatever you tell me to. It's easier that way for me. Not to mention, I'd be smarter doing what you tell me to (90% of the time, I get 10% discretion).

One is a servant of the Lord only if one accepts Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Surely you know that Jesus said belief in Him would divide even families? There is a time coming when Jesus will return and the sheep will be divided from the goats. There is a natural division, that one cannot help, if you stand with Jesus.

I don't really fell that there is a need to be divided by religion. The problem is that many people like to use religion to look doen upon others. Another problem is that people will always inevitebly screw things up. People are innately arguementative.

Why don't you convert to my religion? if you are that bothered by the division. My religion doesn't expect you to think everyone believes the same.
Why would you want to be a servant anyway? It can be a very ungratefull existence :-(

We have to know who it is we're serving.
There are two lords. The Lord of Light--the living God; and the lord of darkness, God's enemy.
Some serve one, some serve the other. It is divisive by its very nature.
So, to answer your question, there is the need to be divided because there is a supernatural war going on, and we have to pick one side or the other. To pick the side of the living God, we have to know him personally. If we don't know him, we are serving his enemy.

Denominations did not start from differences in philosophy. They started from selfish egotistical leaders using philosophy to start and now maintain their selfish empires.
They usually do this by defining "sin". Each denomination has added or emphasized a particular aspect of "sin".
But an open-minded view of sin (in the Bible) is one thing and only one thing.
Sin is Disharmony. Disharmony is sin.
Proof: A good parent only wants one thing from his childen. A good parent wants his childred to get along with each other.
Getting along with each other is called "Harmony".

Doctrinial differences are immense. I think religious differences are just an excuse to hate, not a reason or a cause of hate.

I agree that we are divided on how we practice our faith and beliefs differ.
It reminds me of how you give a dozen people the same job to do and they all find different ways to achieve the same result.
