HERE JESUS IN HIS OWN WORD!! ! Luke 26 “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. 27 Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. 28 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? 29 Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ 31 Or what king, going out to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and deliberate whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? 32 And if not, while the other is yet a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks for terms of peace. 33 So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.

The passage from Luke simply says that devotion to Jesus should be the most important thing in our lives -- more important than money, than possessions, than careers, even more important than family and friends, although those things are all important too.

There are many things in the Bible that Paul wrote who never even met Christ and according to the Original Christan Essenes Paul was a cheater not a real Christian. That would be Paulianity. King Constantine took so much out of the Bible. The Gospel of The Nazirenes Edited and Restored with Historical Documentation by Alan Wauters and Rick Van Wyhe Is the original unadulterated Gospel before Constantine's raping the Holy Bible You will be amazed what is not the truth including slavery.

24>If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25>For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

OK, you are reading from LUKE, I took mine from MATTHEW, two of the four differing GOSPELS about Jesus' conception, life and Crucifixion, and what happened afterwords. Simply put Jesus is telling his Disciples to deny themselves of everything, let go of all earthly holdings and follow him. If they do this they WILL, not only be a disciple, but they will also be promised a place in Heaven. He is telling them that being a disciple, walking with Him will be a hard life, exiled, tormented, mocked. It won't be an easy life. If they are willing to bear the heavy burden (cross) they can be a disciple.

AND I'M NOT GONNA ANSWER YOUR TIRED OLD BIBLE SUPPORTS SLAVERY PART. OH WELL, HOWS THIS, LOOK AT THE TIMES, THAT WAS THEN, THIS IS NOW. WE DON'T LIVE LIKE THAT. THEY DON'T EVEN LIVE LIKE THAT IN JERUSALEM. SO QUIT YOUR RANTING.

All these practices quoted from the Old Covenant applied to the children of Israel who lived by the law and were not God's best arrangements but something God gave because of man's demands. God allowed these practices to happen to show man that this kind of arrangement would not work if man does not willingly and completely submit himself to God to be led by Him. Under the New Covenant Jesus Christ has united humankind into one new man where there is neither Jew nor Greek, neither slave nor free, neither male nor female, for all believers are one in Christ (Ep 2:14, Gal 3:38). In Christ everybody is equal and this is God's idea. In Luke 26 Jesus was merely stressing that we should love Him more than our other relatives. Jesus is forthright in saying that there is a price to pay in being a disciple, including sacrificing our independence, crucifying our old man and obeying Him faithfully. Christainity is not for the weak will or cowards. God's law is perfect but man will mess it up.
