I think what has helped me the most personally is to find a station or purpose in life - that is, to realize that as a human being you are both worthy of life, and useful to society. I find that if I believe I can do something for society, then that helps me maintain my inner peace and will to live.

Personally, I am going to enter graduate school (master's degree program) in industrial engineering next year and want to find ways by which we can develop medical treatments much faster than we do now. So far, this is my motivation.

Of course, I do suffer from bipolar disorder, and by this, I do mean there is a genuine neurological problem in my brain, and I do take medications for it. However, without convincing myself of a purpose in life, these medications would do nothing for me.

Also, other stuff that won't hurt are proper diet and regular exercise. By exercise, I don't mean cycling the Tour de France all the time, I just mean regular brisk walks, stretching, yoga, etc. I find running and cycling to be good forms of meditation, actually, since they are somewhat "mindless" forms of exercise (unlike say, ball sports) and you can let your thoughts wander. Of course, just pay attention to traffic and don't get hit. :-)

In any event, best of luck, and I hope you do find inner peace and calm, whatever the route you choose.

Baking is usually relaxing for me, and I end up with a wonderful dessert. I love how various ingredients combined can turn into so many beautiful and delicious treats. I also find that slowing down helps me to maintain a calm existance. Breathing, slowly, and being focused on one task at a time. What ever you are doing, give it all you attention, then move on to something else. Take care of yourself. Spend more on a throw that you love so you can wrap yourself in feeling luxurious. You are worth the best life has to offer. Relax and take in the gift of life.
