hi , i am a dentist. Gingivitis is not that serious but it must be treated and eliminated before it progresses to Periodontitis (a more severe form of gingivitis that might lead to losing a tooth). to eliminate it you should brush 2-3 times daily and floss once. the tender lymph node you're feeling might be a transient state of bactermia due to that ur not used to flossing. i would say continue to floss but make sure ur doing it correctly. if your lymph node swilling persists for more than two weeks then seek medical attention. please also note that a swollen lymph node might also be due to common cold or flu , or any other infection in the mouth , pharynx or scalp.

Since you have gingivitis and just started to floss, I'm guessing the action of flossing has forced bacteria into your system, and the swelling lymph nodes are a sign that your body is trying to fight off infection. This can be very dangerous. Gum disease can lead to heart problems. Bacteria can easily get into your blood stream and cause problems. Best to see a dentist before it does damage.

YOUR BODY IS IN THE PROCESS OF FIGHTING OFF AN INFECTION. HAVING HAD GINGIVITIS THE ACTUAL CAUSE OF GINGIVITIS MUST BE REMOVED(TARTAR AND CALCULUS DEPOSITS UNDER THE GUMS). ONCE THE GUMS ARE PROPERLY SCALED AND MAINTAINED IN GOOD HEALTH DAILY AT HOME, THEN THE SWELLINGS WILL VANISH AND YOUR GUMS WILL LOVE YOU!

Yes, it is! You should go to your dentist. It's possible that with the ginvivitis, your gum tissue is so fragile that it's more easily allowing food particles under your teeth.
