I have been asked what it would take for me to believe, so I ask the above question in turn.

Well, death would be a good one. I suppose a more logical argument that gives better answers than the ones I've been given would be another. I'm open to reason.

I am speaking for what I think people who believe in a deity do. Most ( not all) religious people just follow along with what the preacher says and what they perceive their bibles (what ever they are) are saying (what ever goes along with what they believe, is what it says) rather than take time and really search out the truth. I guess they feel safe in their religious beliefs and don't want to question them. That might be too hard to handle. They might have to give up some long treasured tradition or something like that. They are brought up to believe something and it is hard to change from that. Not too many people actually change the religion they were raised to believe and trust in. It is kind of hard to do. The people who changed beliefs are usually willing to challenge their beliefs and take chances with an open mind.

Most people do not question their faith because they most likely haven't done in depth research and are just happy arguing beliefs based on man's doctrine. Their faith egos have taken over and they are just "right" no matter what.

When I was 9 years old my Mother had a talk with me. She said that Jesus was like the Easter Bunny and Santa Clause. I was just over 30 years old when I finally came face to face with Jesus again. The last ten years have been the most wonderful years of my life. I have a very close personal relationship with Jesus. It is not a matter of faith and believing it is a matter of faith in a relationship. I can not see anything breaking that relationship. I get mad at GOD because sometimes it hurts to grow but that's about it.
May GOD richly bless you.

Deity is what He is. "God" is who He is.

Nothing can shake my faith in God.

God is the only unifying over-arching idea that makes philosophical and spiritual sense of the universe. Natural Law (things you can't NOT know are right) is inexplicable if there is no God.

This world is illusion and is under the supervision of Maha Maya (the goddess of illusion) Her job is to keep the fallen conditioned souls in the illusion that they desire life after life. If one wants to get out of this suffering and illusion they have to take shelter of God or His Bonafide representative. She will test everyone to see their sincerity of faith and determination. One has to be firmly fixed in their faith or they will be taken by her allurements. I stay fixed in my determination to always be devoted to My most beloved Lord Krishna. go to http://www.stephen-knapp.com for universal truths

Deities are like arch-types of our Ego and personalities: Thought-forms that can disappoint us when "The Way" that we ascribe to them appears to fail us.

I've already MET my God, (Jesus), so I know He exists....there's nothing that would make me lose faith in Him...how could I when I know He's real?

The bible and the fanatics who preach it have definitely made me question if there is a God. I just will not be associated with hate and bigotry.

It takes death.

When they die screaming, "Oh Lord! Please don't take me home!"

Seriously, people are so deeply rooted to their beliefs it takes alot to shake them out of it.

In fact, soldiers tend to lose their faith when they realise they are about to be over run by the enemies. Those without religious faith actually have more determination to end their fight.
