I'm 17 and this guy I might go on a date w/ I have no idea how old he is. He could be anywhere between 18 and 26. The biggest problem about this is a lot of people are unsure of my age... I've gotten anywhere between my real age and 24. So, is there an appropriate way to find this out? Would it be okay to flat out say it? I've never been in a situation like this before.

Shouldn't be a problem with flat out asking.

Or you could say:

What grade are u in? In college? --- That way you'll get a feel for what grade he is in and can closer predict his age.

To a lady, age is always a sensitive issue but not for man. Thus, you can poised a direct question on him "how old are you ?" follow by a complimentary answer like "you don't look that old". No offending, just go and ask.

There is nothing wrong with asking him how old he is. You have every right to know and he shouldn't mind telling you. If you are 17, be careful though, make sure he knows this. You are jailbate to him.

As for a government issued ID card. Just kidding. Yes, just ask him. You have a right to know how old people are that you're dating.

You might want to just come out and ask him, preferably before the first date.

just ask him, but you should have gotten this information before you agreed to go out with him. Ask to see his ID if you think he may be lying about his age.

Ask him where he went to school and what year he graduated. You'll know close enough for a first date.

considering you are underage, just ask flat out. You need to know, and so does he. He may not know that he is dating someone underage, and this can affect him and get him in trouble.
