my wife has a PC with Windows Media Center, it has a Tivo like ability to record programs from the cable TV coming into it. the computer also has a DVD burner, and we have made DVD's that work in our DVD player of shows that we've saved. So it can be done via PC.

i haven't bought one yet, but do you have a cable box or basic cable?

this would be my suggestion

cable box = hook up those RCA cables from the back of box to the dvd player ..

basic cable.. make sure you have your coax going from vcr to tv and the cable going into the vcr ..

record on to vhs and see if you can record, you might have to record to vhs then to dvd ..

let me know if you have succuss i been planning on getting one my self, for now i just have the basic combo
