When you decide to renovate your kitchen you’ll be faced with several important choices. The first and arguably most important is what modular kitchen cabinet design you’ll use. There are dozens to choose from and it will become the style you choose will set the ambiance for the entire room.
The best place to look at the various modular cabinet designs is a home improvement center. They will have several to look at and some will even be incorporated into a mock kitchen display. This is especially helpful as it can give you a great sense of what your finished space will look like.
Many people still go the traditional route and use wood as a finish to their modular kitchen cabinet design. There are many different woods that can be used and it’s mainly a matter or personal preference.
“Modular has been considered a breakthrough in design and space efficiency, applying it to the kitchen may make your life easier”.
For a more modern and versatile look and feel you should consider a modular cabinet that uses melamine. These come in many different colors and for someone with a vision of a vibrant kitchen in reds, blues or greens, this is really the way you’ll want to go.
When you are at the home improvement store inquire about the cost of the kitchen cabinet units that you are interested in. They will generally give you a basic price for the materials. If you need someone to install the cabinets they have a list of available contractors that they use and can calculate an estimate for you, normally on the spot.
They can also arrange delivery of the cabinets for you. They may be a special order product so you’ll want to look into ordering them as soon as you can, so they are ready when you need them. Cost really does vary depending on which modular cabinet you decide on. It’s really important to consider the fact that you will most likely be spending years enjoying your new kitchen, so the design should be one that you love.

A modular kitchen is one that is made up of pre-made cabinet parts. These parts are fitted together to create a whole, functional kitchen design. Modular cabinets are popular in kitchen remodeling projects and are available in two main types: upper and lower units. There are also full units such as closets or pantries that fit from floor to ceiling, or almost to the ceiling. Since a modular kitchen is prebuilt and purchased ready made in sections, often flat packed for home assembly, it's the opposite of a custom made kitchen that is built on site.

One trend in kitchens that has grown over the years is increaseing the size. In most homes, there isn't a lot of unused nearby space in which to expand the kitchen. This, as well as cost considerations, often cause homeowners to rule out moving walls.
Size is important to have a functionally up-to-date kitchen, and many kitchens of yesteryear were designed as tiny spaces. But, there are almost always affordable ways to add square footage.
Many people eliminate their under-used formal dining room or living room. Others incorporate the space once allocated to a pantry, entranceway or back porch. Sometimes a hall can be eliminated or moved to open up more space.
As a last resort, you can always consider extending the kitchen with an addition. Sometimes, doing so opens up opportunities to enhance other parts of the home by making it possible to create a great room, library or master bedroom suite.
