I just got a perm last week and now I wish I didnt. I'm guessing at least 3 months, so my hair dont get too damaged. I see alot of posts online, that you shouldnt chemically straighten, but Ive done it once before from a box i bought and a friend did it for me at home by combing through it for time it says to leave it in. It didnt do anymore damage to my hair then a perm does. Has anyone wanted to straighten out a perm they got, and how long did you wait? What were your results?

take a little longer to decide on chemical services because they r a very damaging thing to hair. if u can wait it out, make sure u condition ur hair and keep it trimmed so it looks its best when u think its at its worst. now if u have a flat iron, take small sections and smooth it out. while still damaging the hair with the use of heat, its still not as bad as getting a perm then a chemical straightner on top of it.

well yeah after i got a perm my hair was totally damaged.. i dont know why....so then i decided to straighten at least 2 months later with a hair straightner. I suggest you wait at least 1-2 months so your wont get that damaged but it wont help if you use a straightning iron because after you wash your hair it will go back to curly. It would be better if you got it done by a pro because its less damage to your hair. I used chemical straighthing and it didnt even last 3 days, it also made my hair really dry.

I think your right about the 3 months. Next time go and try on a few wigs to see if you like the look. Try a flat iron and use it on low or med setting but do the underside first to see how it works. Sorry about the hair thing. I permed my hair once and hated it.

Yes...i had done the same exact thing...i got a perm because i wanted it curly...and then once i had it...i didn't want it anymore...i didn't want to chemically do anymore damage...so i got a hair straightner instead...i just left it curly on the days i wanted it curly...straightend it when i felt like it...and the good thing was i had the best of both...and as time went on...the curls just grew out and i got them cut little by little!
