Why would you "get rid of her"? The dogs are only being true to their natures and the only thing you can do is have the BOTH spayed/neutered. Wait until the female is past her heat cycle though if you can at all. She will bleed more and be prone to complications if it's done during her cycle. Both dogs will be happier and no unwanted puppies to find homes for. Even after you have him "fixed" he will want to persue the women until the hormones in his body are gone. Having her spayed right now in her heat cycle won't stop him from smelling the scent that draws him to her in the first place. Not much you can do about that except put a diaper on her and try to keep them seperated as best you can. Keep her indoors until her cycle is past so other dogs can't get to her either.

Good Luck!

She may still put off some of the attractive odors of a dog in heat for a few days after being spayed, but after that you should be fine. Unless you plan on breeding the male, it would be a good time to get him neutered. He can be intent on searching for his misplaced testicals, instead of trying to hump her while she heals from her surgery.

I'd recommend that you chat with your vetinary surgeon about the best time to fix/neuter/spay your female. Once she has been neutered she will no longer come into season. You also won't run the risk of her developing any nasty womb infections (like pyometra) as she gets older.

I'd also recommend that you get your male dog neutered. There are a lot of benefits for both him & you if you do so.

He won't tend to wander so much, he'll also be happier & less aggressive.

Don't get rid of your girl - she's seven, you've had her a long time ... much longer than the new boy.

Don't get rid of her! Having a female dog is tough, but if you don't wanna deal with the "humping" then get her fixed. Or the male! Once you get her fixed, the male won't try to hump her anymore and if you get the male fixed, he won't even wanna hump!

When a female dog is in heat , she has a smell only dogs can smell. If you fix her it will stop the male dog from bothering her. If you love her fix her.

After a female is spade the scent does not leave immediately. It takes a few weeks. It is better for her health to her her spade when she is not in heat because there is a greater chance of excess bleeding when a female is spade while in heat. Get the male fixed too. It will better for both of them health wise.

No. Any vet that would fix a dog in heat should have their licence removed. Please keep them in separate rooms, use a diaper on her and give her the same love and tenderness as you would your daughter. In 10 weeks when her reproductive cycle is ending is when she can be spayed.
