You should let him go at his wn pace, dont force him to walk. My first child didnt start till 13 months and my other 2 started at 10 months. All are considered normal. I have a friend who's baby didnt start till 18 months also considered normal. If a child is showing no signs of walking by 18months then they sould be taken to a paediatrition.
But it sounds like your baby will be running around, driving you up the wall in no time.

Hello:
First off, I do not have a child of my own. However I have over 6 years of babysitting experience, including much work with infants. And during this time I've learned many things, but most pertinant to your question - I've learned that all children develop at different speeds.
For instance, when I was a baby my mother says I was walking before I was 8 months old and talking shortly after. My sister however wasn't walking until around 14 months and didn't talk for a few months after that. That was probably because I talked for the both of us, but you get the picture.
I would suggest that you take time each day to practice walking with your son, and encourage lots of movement. Also, this might sound a bit silly, but make sure he sees you standing up and walking a lot. Babies love to imitate people, especially their mothers and fathers, so if he sees you walking than he'll want to do it also, or at least try.
Just keep practicing with him, and hang in there. I'm sure he'll learn in no time. There are so many children out there that have parents who are rarely involved with them, much less practice walking with them. And yet they still learn how to walk. So I'm sure with all of the love, attention, and practicing your son recieves he'll be running around and getting into trouble so soon that you'll wish he was still in his crawling stage.
I hope this helps, and good luck!

Most kids dont learn to walk until they are a year old. My first 2 walked a few days after their birthday and my 3rd walked at 15 months. All is normal. Some do walk at earlier ages, but if he is not ready then you cant push him. If its anywhere after 18 months then you can start worrying. But you dont want him walking earlier than he should anyways. ONce he starts he wont stop , then your on to chasing him around everywhere.

Most children do not walk until 12-15 months. My little boy walked at 13 mo, 1 wk. We did nothing to encourage it, though, as everyone told us how it would bring about a lot of work for us! How many adults do you know that don't know how to walk? Don't worry, he'll get it when it is his time! It's still early.

have you heard the expression you need to learn to crawl before you can walk. this expression is so true. the longer that a child crawls the stronger their backs will be and have a stronger spine, please don't push him to walk take your time and enjoy him while his is small. As far as talking he will do this in his time also. you need to talk to him like he is a small child and read books to him many books. Enjoy this time it is the best years and the most impressionable. Most of all Love him.

He is still pretty young for walking. Some very slender and agile babies walk as early as 7 months, but that's about the earliest I've ever seen. Mine first walked from 11-13 months.
Babies who have more weight on their behinds, or who have shorter legs, will usually not walk as soon as others. They often sit up earlier than others, though.
All babies are different! Just enjoy your baby's new experiences with him and don't worry about him.

My 20 month old was the same way. I was his climbing post while on the floor at 9 months. He didn't have his balance to walk on his own, so I got him a push toy that converted to sitting down play also. He pushed that toy around everywhere. But mostly they will get the walking thing down on their own time.

He is not old enough yet. Give it another 2 or 3 months he will be up and running. Talking comes later than walking and boys seem to be a little slower than girls when it comes to that. Be patient just let him move at his own pace.

all kids are different- one of mine walked at 9 months but this is very very early. my other one didn't walk until 13- 14 months and even then fell down a lot. how much does your baby weigh. you have to wait for their legs to get strong enough to carry their weight. I'm glad you are an involved parent. just stay involved and it will happen soon enough. a word of warning- once they learn how to walk, its not long beofre they learn how to run and this means less rest for you!!!

My daughter took her first steps at 9 months then she just quit trying and at 11 months she got up and just started walking and has ever since and she is almost 17 months old. So just let him do it in his own time and it will happen. Don't rush him or he won't.
