Most likely she'll just end up on the furniture when you aren't around. So your best bet is to grab some old sheets. Place on the furniture just for her. Remove when you have company or need to wash it. To remove hair from the sheet, throw in the dryer on no heat. It'll collect in the lint trap. We do this for our dog and it works great.

Ah, yes , she thinks she is a people! I got my dog a soft, fuzzy blanket which i fold to just the right size for him. At first I put it on the couch, then on the floor in front of the couch, then a little furthur away. Now he thinks of it as "his" special place. HOWEVER, if I am not looking, like in the middle of the night, he will sneak up on the couch. So, I lay an extra large black plastic trash bag on the couch...he hates the plastic and will not lay on it. In the morning I just roll up the bag and tuck it behind a cushion or behind the couch. I'm sure there are other, more strict ways, but I'm a push-over! Also, you can give her a biscuit or treat as reward for going to her blanket, even if you have to gently lead her there! rewards work.

It is cruel and unfair to keep her off the new furniture when you allowed her on the old stuff.
I have two dogs and they go wherever they want to. If you don't want them to be part of the family then find her a good home. My dogs have never ruined or torn up anything. They sleep in the beds, on the furniture or in their dog beds.

Why would she ruin it? Keep her nails clipped, and a blanket on the furniture (if you are worried about fur).
I have a cat, and leather furniture. So I do not see how a Cocker Spaniel can cause harm to new furniture, if she's done well with what you already have.

eeeeeeeeewwwwwwww to the person before me....your dog sleeps in the bed....that is so wrong, on the bed i can understand but under the covers is not the place for a dog. Unless your into "that sort of thing" i suppose.
Anyway....all you need to do is buy them a special rug each and teach them that thats where they can sleep, theres nothing cruel about it, dogs love having a special rug that only they are allowed on. My dog thinks she is the lord of the manor on her fake fur rug, its on the couch in the morning, in the afternoon it moves to in front of the window because thats where she like to bask in the afternoon, and at night it goes into my sons room, she likes to watch over him. Buy your dogs their own special rugs, trust me they'll love it

If you don't want her on the furniture you need to re-train her that it's not okay to be on the furniture.
http://www.leerburg.com says you should never allow your pets on the furniture because the nice places to sit and lay are reserved for the alpha and never shared. I simply haven't managed to adopt that philosophy. I love EVERYTHING about Ed Frawley but I'm too soft with my dogs. They sleep with me sometimes but mostly in their crates.
Good luck!

Awww that is sooo cute! Is she's doing no harm to your current furniture then whats the problem with her going on the new one. Well if it is a problem I suggest you keep one of the sofas you have now, for her own personal use lol. She will feel extra special!
