How do I connect a firewire to my pc if there is no 4 pin port on the pc?

I know the camcorder has it because I can see the 4 pin port, but my pc and my laptop are both devoid of such a port. I looked on ebay and most of the ones I saw were 4 pin male, 4 pin female - obviously not working for me. Do they make a firewire that is 4 pin on one end, usb on the other? Will this work?

you need to buy a firewire card and install it

No. there is no USB to Firewire cable. The data transfer rates are different. However you can add a PCI card with firewire to your computer:
