Could you possibly come up with a more sexist question?? My hairstylists is extremely successful, owns his own string of salons, and has been happily married for 25 years, has two kids in college, and couldn't be more straight. He still cuts and styles my hair...and does a fabulous job of it...every three months.
Welcome to 2006!!

Pretty much all of the male hairstylists I've ever met have been openly gay. I always love having my hair done by one of them — they make very interesting conversationalists. But who says that gay guys don't work in garages or become engineers? It's not as if ALL male hairstylists are gay, or ALL male engineers are straight. Besides, a guy's job doesn't really determine how masculine he is. We do have female engineers, after all, and one of my (straight) girlfriends worked at a garage.

No, they're not automatically gay. A lot are, but that's not everyone. If a man would prefer to cut hair then to be out in a garage working on a car, then more power to him.

No. My hairstylist has 3 children and a wife! He's a great guy and he knows his stuff.
Don't let peoples perceptions keep you from doing what you want! Its about YOU not them. Remember "If you aren't living life on the edge, then you're taking up too much space." Meaning: If you live life scared of taking chances, then what are you even doing living? You might as well curl into a ball and never move. Risks are what make it all worthwhile man!
Good luck on your future!

I think its pretty childish to categorise all male hair stylists as GAY... what about women who do "male" jobs, like factory work, etc?
Yes, some men who cut hair are gay, but not all of them... besides.. does it really matter what their sexual preference is when they cut your hair?? all that matters is that they do a good job at giving you a good hair style.

why would you need only a girls opinion on this?
I am answering anyway, no just because someone has a certain job doesnt say anything about sexuality. some people just like to do this sort of thing.

Hair dressers that are straight make more money, because women want to go to a straight hair stylist because they get the attention they want from their hair stylist which they dont get from their husbands at home

I have only known one male hair stylist who was not gay. I am not saying they all are gay, just that I seem to always find the ones who are.

Hun! Everything is gay in this country. Just say screw them and do what YOU want with your life. My father AND grandfather are both hairdressers and they are the furthest thing from gay. Don't worry about what people think, do what you want to with your life!! ENJOY IT!
