i need auto loan for person--to-person used car. if you applied for the loan and got approval, you will automatically get a check in a mail???
can i void the check later if i don't need the loan?

I used Capital One to buy a new 07 Malibu. If you get approved they will ask for all kinds of info to be faxed to them over a week or so. Then they will mail the 'Blank Check'. You can use it or tear it up and not ever be charged a dime and nothing will ever come of it other than your credit will reflect that Capital One did an 'inquery' on your credit report. No worries.

Its probably going to be difficult without a cosigner although its possible. If you belong to a credit union or have one in your area you can join it may be easier to get approved. Theres more opportunity to talk to a real person and be able to make your case in person for getting a loan. If you've recently been into a dealership and had them run your credit, it won't ding your credit any further to have another lender check you credit (if all the inquiries are within a 14-day period) However, instead of filling out an online app, call them, ask to speak to someone about a loan and tell them the details of your situation and ask for their opinion. That way if its totally out of consideration you don't end up getting denied again and won't risk another inquiry on your credit report if i you're outside the 14-day window.

I also used Capital One and the only negative effect will be on your credit report. Also along with the blank check they inform you on everything that applies to the blank check so you dont screw anything up lol. Read the fine print once you get it!
