To some extent they already have.
This is a major source of government corruption in Mexico, and corruption is the major reason it is so hard for an ordinary Mexican to make a living there.
If the U.S. really manages to cut back on illegal immigration, thereby closing the escape route to the North for Mexicans who can't make a living at home, then Mexico itself will have to deal with the systemic corruption. There will be a major upheaval, but maybe afterward the Mexican economy will take off and flourish.

Some politicians are actually involved in drug cartels

I don't think they will control the country soon, but still they have power, whenever they do, Mexico will be like Colombia, that scares me =S, the peso will be devaluated and the people will be sinked in crisis

Anyway the country is going down, lots of poverty, unsafety, bad economy, currency is not strong, lack of opportunities, unemployment, it is so sad how some people are excited about leaving the country...

yes, the drug lords of Mexico control that country. it all has to do with money. the govt ends up with some of that money. why do you think they have yet to put a stop to the drug lords.

All the politicians are out for their own gain, I guess their pay is not good enough, in Mexico it's everyone for their selves. and if we don't stop it from coming here, we will be in the same predicament.
