do you have blisters on your tonsils? Usually if you have strep throat you have blisters. If not you may just have broncitis or something else.

It doesn't sound like it to me--I had it last year (and many others before it). When I had strep, it really hurt to swallow. I didn't lose my voice, though. I also hardly coughed.

How can the doctor be closed for three days? Your best bet IS to find a doctor, so try to get help right away, as soon as you can.

Hope you feel better. <=)

I liken the feeling of strep throat to swallowing razor blades. In front of a mirror, mouth wide-open, look at the back of your throat. Are there tiny white spots? Got a fever? Antibiotics and only antibiotics, as far as I know. Ice chips, ice cream, popsicles.

It might not be strep. You can lose your voice secondary to just a cold, pharyngitis, or bronchitis.

Strep usually has lots of other symptoms with it, including any of the following: muscle/body aches, headache, nausea/vomiting, fever, sore throat.

Head to your doctor, and they will probably do a rapid strep test. They will treat you appropriately.

Probably strep, and it's not going to get better until you get some antibiotics into you. Sorry. Until then, try to sip on ice water or popsicles to ease the pain a little.
