No. Our suffering is for our experience.

And if thou shouldst be cast into the pit, or into the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the deep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee eexperience, and shall be for thy good.

My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment;

Jesus suffered on the cross. His obedience pleased God.
Paul was stoned, shipwrecked, lashed, jailed, yet, his obedience pleased God, for He stood his ground.
You can't "make" the choice to suffer, but when you have people who constantly criticize your faith, you "suffer" with it.

If you truly love God, you will face mockings, trials and tribulations.

Suffer? No. Sacrifice, yes. And not the animal-on-the-stone -slit throat-kind-of-sacrifice. (the choices we have made in our life, the things we have given up to lead a better life, give to others)

You would make a better start by just agreeing with Him and seeing that you aren't any better than the rest of us.... Jim

It contradicts common sense and logic. God is a myth.

suffering is inevitable, whether you believe in Him or not.
For we all die

To believe that suffering is meaningless is an empty void.

Despite what Athiests say, God doesn't want us to light ourselves on fire just to please him...so no, God doesn't want us to suffer, it's a result of free will.
