Can you please explain to me how it worked? Even Darwin couldn't explain this which is why he withdrew he theory.

Tell me how we arrived. Monkeys??? Goo??
Please enlighten me in how we evolved in an unstable enivornment. It's already been proven that the earth had alot of storms and such in the beginning. please explain how we didn't get crushed and we turned out to be soo complex in structure. And think about this: You see a building, now you know there is a designer tothat building but you don't have to see him to know he exists but hte building didn't appear coincidentally. And that's a simple building imagine our complex bodies. Just becuase you didn't see the designer doesn't mean he's not there.

Darwin never "withdrew" his theory, nice try.

You're right there were lots of storms and meteorites. For all we know, life needed a couple of tries to get started.

Just the fact that you are asking whether we came from monkeys or from goo, shows that you either have NO idea what evolution is about or are just trying to get a rise out of people. You bore me.

Evolution is now a proven fact, and the proof will help you understand how it works. First, consider how information is used to create an organism: DNA contains the coded instructions on how to do so. DNA contains a string of chemicals called bases, of which there are four different kinds, so each base contains two bits of information. Three bases together thus contain six bits, and this is enough to select which of twenty different amino acids are defined by the combination (with some codes left over, and some being redundant). Sections of DNA responsible for certain features are called genes. There are also sections of DNA which are not used; these are called introns (the active portions are called exons). The DNA iinstructions are used by cell elements called ribosomes to construct proteins. The DNA of a parent organism is ordinarily passed on to offspring without change, but occasionally there will be an error of some sort which will cause the offspring DNA to be different. There may be a one-bit change due to radiation from cosmic rays or radioactive substances in the soil, or DNA sections may be transposed (one such is responsible for Down's syndrome). If a change substitutes one amino for another, there may be a small change or no visible change, but if the reproductive capacity of the organism is changed, the organism may be more (or less) likely to produce viable descendants. The fact that such variation occurs (and it is responsible for every plant and animal product that we now use) is one element of the proof.

The second element is selection -- first, natural selection, and now artificial selection. As noted above, a mutation may result in a more viable organism, which can reproduce more effectively than similar organisms without the mutation. Humans select variants for their useful features: cows that produce more milk, fruit that is less susceptible to rot, and on and on. Now selection obviously occurs, and the fact that it does establishes the second part of the proof. But there are no other parts, and both parts having been proved, the theory is proved.

Sexual reproduction is a crucial element of evolution, because it facilitates the rapid dissemination of favorable mutations. It is not necessary that a mutation generate the best possible change in a particular case -- being a little bit better is enough.

But the mere fact that evolution is provably correct does not help much in discovering the evolutionary history of any particular species, including H. sapiens; for this, other evidence is necessary. Conveniently, there is lots available, from a host of sources, and we now have a pretty good idea of the entire evolutionary tree. For details, see the reference, which is fascinating, and addresses with particularity the matter of the ancestry of modern mankind.

Humans are part of a long line of mutations in life that developed here on Earth. Evolution is a process by which inherited traits and environmental pressures select for those who are genetically more adaptive to their surroundings. Individuals with advantageous genes live more often to reproduce, therefore, spreading their genes to the next generation. If you had any idea of what the theory postulates, you wouldn't ask if we had come from monkeys. The theory clearly states the relationship between humans and the great apes, but says that we diverged in different directions. The result is many primate species of which we are one.

The whole builder analogy doesn't hold water. The idea that a singularly "god" kick-started the universe is ridiculous. "God" is simply a control mechanism for the less introspective. To think that we were put here by a deity of our image is egocentric and superstitious. People need to free themselves from such antiquated ideas and seek peace, harmony, and freedom within themselves. Look at the state of the world now. God isn't evident in the beliefs or behaviors of those religiosos when they kill each other and pollute the environment. If this shift in spiritual thought is not made world-wide, practitioners of these organized religions will be the death of us all.

There is a reason it's a theory, there's no way to be 100% positive that it is exactly correct. If you want a perfect explanation of evolution. Ask a christian where god came from. How did he appear out of no where? If god created us, he must be at least as complex as us if not more. After all we were supposedly created in his own image. If you are going to try and say that humans couldn't have existed wthout being created by something, then you must admit that god could not have just plan existed with out the need for him to be created.
If you are going to say that god didn't need to be created, he's just existed forever, then there is absolutely no reason why humans could not have come into existance without the need to be created.

The difference between evolution, and creationism is that it's based on testable hypothesis, and scientifc observations, not Blind Faith, and the presumption that a fantastic 2000 year old story about a magical being creating everything correct.

If you want to just accept what your told, because your told to accept it go ahead. The rest of us open minded people are going to use this brain that we have(which was supposedly given to us by god to begin with), and try and find answers that make a little more sense.

And if there is a designer then perhaps he designed evolution.

As for how it actually works, well, for one, it took a very, very, very long time, and provided you don't believe in a "designer" than basically, it happened by pure chance. Some slimy substance was mixed up in the primordial soup that somehow was chemically cohesive. That slimy ball of snot was composed of materials that could digest other things, and then that snot would split when it got too big and there'd be two slimy snot balls. Now, as you can see, even though the snot acted randomly, with absolutely no intentionality, because its random actions made more of its kind, well...basically thats it. That's life. Living things are "living" because they make more of themselves, and that's the only reason they're around, I mean, excluding metaphysical claims to the contrairy.

As to your "lots o' storms" problem. yes, when the Earth was formed it was completely inhospitable, and that is why life did not appear for billions of years after it formed, once things simmered down quite a bit. There're actually some really neat studies about what sort of environment is necessary for advanced life to develope. Certain amounts of water are necessary, a climate that is varied but not catastrophically so, a moon to help control that climate, planets and an asteroid belt to protect the planet in question from meteors, etc. Its pretty fascinating to think about.

Anyway, what's more important is that evolution really does make sense, and if there is a God, then I believe he created the universe to make sense. He wouldn't go through all the trouble to make everything else around us work so well just to plop us down as finished products, with, whoops, yep, vestigial organs and other signs of evolution. What're those doing there, right?

Anyway, hope that helped, feel free to email me if you want to discuss it more.

Those who believe in evolution don't believe in it simply because someone said so. It can be proven. Animals who live in a frigid climate are reared in warmer and warmer habitats. Over the generations they loose their thick insulating fur that provided them protection from the cold that they no longer need. They Evolved. Religion always hides facts from the followers for obvious reasons. Did you know that 99% of Biblical people were illiterate? There intelect told them that the Earth was flat. If you could be transported back then with a cigarette lighter and flicked it, everyone worshiped you as God because you could make fire come from your hands, when they had to work for 30 min. to produce a flame. Would you trust your families health to the hands of these ignorant biblical people ? With what they thought caused illness and rely on their cures? You'd all be in the cemetery. Yet you trust a God concept to people who didn't have the slightest idea as to what was going on. All that is asked is that any God who receives a billion prayers each and every day, a God who has had over 100 million people killed in his name show up. What seems to be the problem?? No religion wants to talk about it because they know that God did not create man but ancient man who created God, but they collectively receive $3 billion a year in donations. Bottom Line: Evolution can be proven. A Man Living in a Cloud cannot. The religions always come up empty handed. The Bible says that if you get 2 or more and pray for anything in my name that you will receive it. Pray that God resumes coming down like he used to do in the Bible and He will get millions of converts. Why wouldn't he want that?

A couple of years back, some scientists tested this out: the got together all the compound they knew were around on earth just after it was formed (carbon, nitrogen, water, ect...) ran electricity through it (to simulate lightning) and they got amino acids, the most basic building block of life.
The basic premise of evolution is that members within a species are not identical, there are little differences, called mutations. Mutations occur completely at random, but if one happens that causes the individual who has it to be more likely to survive and reproduce (as compared to their non-mutated relatives) then they will do so and pass that mutation on to their children. The original species, being less likely to survive, will gradually be replaced by the new, better group.
The "we came from monkeys" thing is an oversimplification, chimpanzees are merely our closest evolutionary and genetic relative. But millions and millions of years ago our ancestors would have been decidedly ape-like.
We came about because one of our distant ancestors happened to be born with a bigger than normal brain, was better able to outsmart predators, find food, and otherwise survive.

A building isn't born of two complex being with its own genetic structure and unique mutations. It is precisely that unstabel environment that allowed life, and it has been reproduced under controlled circumstances that with the right combination of gases and the right heat, pressure, and UV radiation, you will get a cell. That cell will reproduce. Its sister cells will have mutations. Insert billions upon billions of years of such itty bitty mutations and some new advancements called photosynthesis and chlorophyll, you get a few plants and algae now. Those plants eventually (over millions of years) aquired the ability to move and eat littler animals, and one day, they even step out of that big blue onto dry land.

Insert us. We haven't evolved from monkeys, we and monkeys have the same ancestors. You don't say you evolved from your brother, but your brother and you have taken different characteristics from your ancestors. You might have your grandmother's eyes, and he has her mouth.

Is that simple and basic and stupid enough for you? You anti-common senseists have absolutely no grasp on how beautiful and complex and wonderful evolution is. For those of us more inclined towards belief in God, it simply reaffirms the belief in the all-power of God. If you don't believe in god, then it is the ultimate affirmation of the glory of science.

Take your pick, but evolution is fact, not fiction.

It sickens me how far the creationists have spread their misinformation...

It's such a mess. They are promoting ignorance and stupidity. People are clinging onto poorly made arguments against evolution that take twice as many words to explain how they're wrong.

Even long after those arguments have been disproven, the counterargument still doesn't reach everyone because they won't listen. So they continue to spread false notions. They only accept what they want to accept, not what is logical and not what has more evidence.

I'm not going to spend much energy since you've already made up your mind and facts.

Natural selection favors certain variations caused by mutation and recombination. That and vast amounts of time: billions, not millions, billions of years.

If we were designed, the knee and back make no sense. It's as if they are just modified from those of creatures that walked on four legs. It's the same parts, poorly reconfigured. Ask anyone with knee or back trouble.
