English is very subtle and prepositions are very tricky. You could also have said "I am disappointed by the news" if that had been offered as an alternative.

I think that it is "at" in this case because you are confronting the news and you don't like what you see.

If you are disappointed "with" something, it means that you were expecting better and received something not up to expectations. "I am disappointed with my results." "I am disappointed with my present."

If you are disappointed about something, it means that you are not quite so intimately involved with it. "I am disappointed about the way in which the government is running this country."

If you say you are disappointed in someone, then you feel let down by that person. "I am disappointed in you, Harry. I expected better of you!"

Keep reading good books in English and note the uses of prepositions. They are very tricky indeed and even native speakers have to stop and think sometimes!

You don't. It's poor grammar. Try "I am disappointed because...."

Yes: "You disappointed me."
No: "I am disappointed with you."

Using a preposition makes it a passive sentence rather than active.

Use "with" when describing some one or some thing. Use "about" when describing an event or situation. Never use "at," and many use "in" instead of "with."
